i think publicly calling out/cancelling young people on twitter who aren’t familiar with art communities or commissions on social media for “tracing” animal crossing characters and selling them without realising the wrong behind it is seriously not okay.
i think we should take a step in communication in DMs or in PRIVATE instead of ripping these young people apart to your thousands of followers with threads of screenshots and witch-hunting through your own speculation.
i think if you’re going to tear people apart, you don’t have the right to tell them “i have no obligation to educate you” bc u are damaging their public image and causing them to have a perception by the community which is toxic and negative.
i have seen countless young people deactivate and leave the AC community because screenshots of their work has been posted to be ripped into by big accounts and it’s heartbreaking. I am personally an art account, and i do not trace but i can sympathise with people who do trace -
and didn’t previously understand why it was wrong. Not everyone has bad intentions, so stop putting people on blast to fit your own narrative and act like you’re facing a massive up hill oppression just bc you make authentic art. Stop ruining people for likes and retweets.
Call out people for racism, for homophobic, transphobic, put them on blast for being bad people when they are actually damaging. But stop putting young women who are new to the art community on blast by calling them “disgusting” and “thieves” and the rest for attention.
