Interracial porn is possibly the most offensive content that is still legal produce. Nowhere else can you get away with depicting humans in such a manner.
Black men are more than big dicks, ways to upset white men, scene fillers and status symbols. We are more than a composite of ethnic stereotypes, and I think the industry would be good to celebrate this diversity instead of this weird anachronistic minstrelsy.
I know that it’s difficult to get into the complexities of race relations, when most of the content is consumed at low volumes and fast forwarded through. But I think the lack of effort in changing the depiction is my biggest point of contention.
I’m also acutely aware of how fetishized white women are. I’m aware that my complacency in the overall white male privilege hierarchy (a word I for sure knew how to spell before now) means that I’m not the best person to mine this vein. But I still have eyes and see it’s bad.
Furthermore. Interracial as a word implies something is happening between these two entities that’s so out of the ordinary it needs to be called out. Interracial porn is porn.
Also interracial in porn almost always means black guy and white woman. Lots of other sex COULD fit in this category, but the industry at large would rather you think of it through the lens of segregation, and the enduring image of the untamed African conquerer.
Go to a mainstream porn site, type in interracial and watch 10 videos at random. Then, look at how actual people in these relationships behave and present themselves.
Every time society paints a segment of the population with one brush, every other segment suffers for it. It’s easy to dismiss as “just porn” but all entertainment has some level of social responsibility.
And for full disclosure: OF COURSE this thread was inspired by the frustration I experienced as I opened tab after tab looking for something even relatively reflective of a real scenario.
Obviously there are bigger issues in the world. But it’s still important to call out bs when you see it. Even if still makes your penis hard. It can still be bad.
