Happy #SheRa season 5! I’m still blown away by all the work our team put into the show! As the primary Color Designer of the show, my role was to color characters, props, and effects and tie all the design elements together with the BGs. Here’s a thread of some of my work!
Some of my favorite things to do is to color new incidental characters because you get to play around with new color palettes and locations. These mushroom folk were especially fun! These characters (along with the spacesuits above!) were designed by @myamashin #SheRa
The Star Siblings actually went through multiple color stages to cater to Mattel’s request that the colors be true to the original toy line. This was a collaborative effort between me and my amazing AD, Liz Kresin, and these were the colors we ended up with! #SheRa
A more time-consuming side to Color Design is adding Special Lighting to all the characters. She-Ra is known for its many cool lighting effects, so of course, its characters had to reflect it! I probably did HUNDREDS of SP lights during my time on the show… #SheRa
I also got to color the characters during this beautiful cliffside scene between Adora and Mara; the characters were overlayed on top of @Kate_Farina’s backgrounds then adjusted to fit the lighting scenarios.
One of the things that I’ve wanted to do since S1 was update each of the Princess’s “God Mode” glows and I’m so happy I finally had a chance to do that for the final episodes! The lens flare on Glimmer was so much fun and I love how our animation studio interpreted it! #SheRa
And of course, Adora’s Wish sequence. I wanted the characters to look like they were bathed in an ethereal light and make it seem like they were glowing! Character designs and initial color pass by Mickey Quinn and @raegeii #SheRa
She-Ra S5 also gave me a chance to explore different design roles! I got to design a few backgrounds from the Rebellion campsite. These were done in rough line and then later passed on to @tikimachine (clean line artist extraordinaire) to be cleaned up! #SheRa
