It doesn’t matter if George said the Dornish were Mediterranean or not, they’re based off of Moorish Spain and Moorish Spain wasn’t white.
The Targaryens were imperialists and colonizers.
Daenerys has never set foot on Westeros other than Dragonstone, which was a Valyrian outpost for centuries, so she doesn’t actually have a solid claim to rule over the continent.
Catelyn didn’t owe Jon anything. The concept of stepmothers does not exist in Westeros. Her husband brought home a child who was conceived after they were already married and is thus living proof that her husband cheated on her. 1/3
She had no way to get away from her husband or divorce him so for her to remain sane, she had to find it in her to forgive Ned. Anywhere else in Westeros, Jon would’ve been sent away, so her asking for this to happen is not cruel on her part. 2/3
Yes, Jon may or may not have suffered emotionally for this, but ultimately the fault there lies with Ned choosing to pass off Jon as his own bastard. 3/3
Ned did the right thing in not telling Catelyn who Jon really was because at the start of their marriage she was a stranger and when he got to know her, he would’ve been making her an accessory to treason if she knew.
Ned had no choice but to send Jon to the Night’s Watch. He would’ve been putting him in danger by taking him to King’s Landing right under Robert’s nose and Catelyn would not have suffered him in Winterfell without Ned there. 1/2
The only thing he could do was send Jon to the Night’s Watch so Benjen could watch over him. 2/2
Daenerys may not be intentionally racist, but she is racist because she was raised by a racist and has internalized racist ideals. Freeing slaves does not absolve her of this.
It’s clear from Dany’s chapters later in Storm of Swords and Dance with Dragons that she doesn’t actually enjoy ruling. Subconsciously she sees ruling as a method to receive the love that she craves, and that is why she wants to be queen.
Jon’s dream where he’s defending the wall against the dead is generally assumed that this is foreshadowing for his fight against the Others, but in the dream, he is armored in black ice and being attacked with flaming arrows. 1/3
I think this is meant to mirror Dany’s dream where is says, “she the Usurper's rebel host across the river they were armored all in ice.” Jon is armored in ice in his dream and Dany would think of him as a Usurper because of Ned and because 2/3
Jon will likely be fighting for Northern independence. The flaming arrows in Jon’s dream are likely associated with Dany fighting with her dragons. Ultimately, I think this is foreshadowing for Dance of Dragons 2.0. 3/3
Lyanna and Rhaegar’s “relationship” was not consensual. Both she and Elia were Rhaegar’s victims and they deserved better.
Sansa and Arya did not bully each other, they just acted how regular siblings act. Lots of people’s self-esteem was negatively impacted by sibling fighting that was unknowingly taken too far. Neither one abused the other.
Tyrion is a piece of shit and I shouldn’t have to explain way. Unless his arc in the last two books is dedicated to a redemption, there’s really nothing that could happen that could justify him getting the ended he received on the show.
The line in Jon’s chapter where he thinks about how Sansa only ever called him her half-brother is portrayed in a negative way. It dismays him, but we don’t ever see him holding a grudge against her for it. 1/3
This probably hurt Jon in some way, but there’s no indication that he ever told Sansa about it. Sansa does correct Arya by saying Jon is their half-brother when Arya simply says brother. This is likely her way of emulating her mother in separating Jon while trying 2/3
not to hurt him. Sansa never calls Jon a bastard to his face after she learns what it means most likely because she does not want to hurt him, but he’s never explained to her that half-brother does the same. 3/3
