I watched #BloodAndWater and I have some thoughts - a thread.
1. I enjoyed it! I will reject easy comparisons but it reads to me like an interesting interpretation of the good foreign YA shows on @NetflixSA.
I'll focus on my fave highlights from this season - and I have many!

2. The production design was really wonderful: (save for the weird branding and poster issue but I'll blame UCT regulations for that).
I love the use of space as extensions of the characters. The transformation of each room to denote decadence was truly effective. #BloodAndWater

3. The CMS? *Chef's kiss*. The burgundy, blue and purple were truly delicious. The make-up was mostly great and BLACK PEOPLE LOOKED GOOD ON TV!!!
Also, the hair journeys we were taken on? Beautiful! It looks lush and lux - even on the 'other side of the track'. #BloodAndWater

4. The locations were STUNNING! I recognised most of the houses from the time I was a researcher at MOONLIGHTING. The location scout needs a raise!
It was also great to see how they only used parts of the UCT campus. It helped make the story feel more contained. #BloodAndWater

5. The cinematography was truly wonderful. The movement was just right and the coverage was great.
The lighting really stood out for me. The use of practicals, smoke and blinds was thoroughly inventive. The neon wasn't a fave but still

6. We got some queer rep - although the bar is still in hell.
I'd invite the writers to exlore this a little for the 2nd season (trust me - there's gonna be a 2nd season). Give us someone who is themselves - not just a dick. Pun intended. Where are the queer WOCs? #BloodAndWater

7. The casting was soooooo YUMMY!!! It was mostly POCs and that was truly enjoyable to watch. I only noticed this much later which was rather pleasant.
I enjoyed seeing how the different worlds they represented met at certain intersections. Bravo to the cast! #BloodAndWater
