Houston has lost one of its great citizens, Keith Wade. A longtime advisor to Mayor Turner, Keith was also a member of the Hermann Park Conservancy family, serving as one of the earliest board members, as well as a board chair and a longstanding advocate for the Park.
He grew up in neighboring Third Ward, in a time when segregation was prevalent. Hermann Park gave him a chance to play with kids from all over Houston. This idea—that Hermann Park is for every Houstonian—was a guiding vision for the Conservancy, with Keith as its vocal advocate.
HPC president, Doreen Stoller, remembers his dedication to “doing the right thing,” and his warmth and humor.
