Poetry is like the streets. It belongs to everyone.

Thinking of Como Tu by Roque Dalton - "la poesía es como el pan, de todos"/ "poetry, like bread, is for everyone" - which is actually one of my favourite poems of all time.

When people tell me they're not weird enough for poetry or that they don't understand it I get grey hairs b/c they haven't been introduced to the poetry that is for them yet and it makes me sad that whatever they were introduced to discouraged them from looking further.

Poetry is for you! Oh my god, poetry is for you. Poetry is for everybody.
