Please hear it from the baby’s parents in front of whom everything happened and you be the judge.
The Baby was taken to @ADKHospital around 7.30pm because he had inconsolable crying and difficulty feeding. Parents were told it was gas and was given a medicine and sent home.
They went back to @ADKHospital at 12.30am as they felt that the baby wasn't alright. He was kept in ER and later sent to the observation ward. On Dr.Manoj’s instruction x-ray was done at 2.30am and ultrasound was done at 4.30am since there wasn’t a scan doctor available earlier.
When the parents asked about the investigations, they did not explain anything clearly except for saying “banduga kameh eba huttey”. A CT scan was done around 5.30am. Report of it was not given to the parents nor were they informed of the findings.
Nevertheless from the time CT scan was done, if they had attended accordingly things could have been different. The attending doctor seemed clueless and did not do anything to manage the critical condition the baby was in.
During this time Parents complained of vomiting and not passing stool on which the baby was given enema and medicine for vomiting. Parents requested for IV fluids since the baby couldn’t tolerate orally. The doctor informed they would put an IV line.
A nurse came to put IV line and informed that they couldn’t find a vein in any of the limbs because the baby was too cold on which the parents tried warming the baby by putting additional clothing.
Another nurse came later and informed he couldn’t find a vein either. Baby’s father begged them to do something and cried to them saying my son is dying please help and asked them to take the baby to NICU or any other place where they could manage him better.
The father was responded by saying “Aharumennah hadhanvee goiy ingeyne” and they did not put him in NICU nor was his vitals kept in check.
At 7.45am the baby stopped crying and became unresponsive and the parents immediately notified the doctor. They rushed him to ER. Within 10-15 minutes lots of doctors (specialists) and nurses came to ER but by then it was too late.
After the death of the baby the parents were told of the underlying condition of the baby and that it was something that required immediate surgery. The baby could have been saved if surgery had been done in time.
It is truly saddening to know that from the moment of visit to passing away, the baby’s condition was not taken seriously and thus was not given the treatment he required.
