Have seen some diaspora [Jatt] Sikhs pathetically try to claim that the depiction of rape of a Dalit Sikh woman in #PaatalLok by a Jatt Sikh wearing a parna is a smear by "propaganda" channels to demean Sikhs.

This is a disgusting way to obfuscate REALITY. Meet Bant Singh:
Bant Singh's daughter, Baljit Singh, was gang-raped by Jatts in her village; and when Bant Singh stood up against it, the same Jatts broke his arms and legs, leaving him disabled. Yet he still advocates for justice, using songs and poetry as his medium.
A short clip of Bant Singh discussing how he gets his inspiration from the Sikh Gurus and Shaheeds. Is his narrative, his courage also "propaganda to malign Sikhs" to these Jatts living in the diaspora who want to obscure oppressive realities in their backyard?
I too come from a Jat background, but I don't find such depictions of oppression problematic - because the people who cry about such depictions while using slurs for Dalits & proudly having "Jatt" written in their bios, are not "my people". Those like Bant Singh are MY people.
That some people try to tie this depiction to kharkus in the 80s is even more pathetic - Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was an outspoken advocate of punishing such rapists, who often exploited low-caste women.
