"Faculty will be responsible for cleaning all classroom surfaces."

I once taught a section after a guy who taught chemistry. I spent five minutes cleaning half a mile of whiteboard of equations with towels I had to bring because he, somehow, also stole the erasers?

When I asked said guy, nicely, to try to break down his classroom before my class he basically told me to go screw myself. Anyway.
The thing is, you probably need to send out an inspiring call to arms that basically says, "listen, if we don't all come back and pick up trash and pitch in and bend over backwards, the college will die" but few places have either that leadership or that store of goodwill.
Because the two most vulnerable assets that privatization extracts from public goods are: trust and goodwill. Legitimacy follows and then you just play Monopoly until someone shoots you to put you out of your misery.
