Aaron Wan-Bissaka is underrated.

Sure, his offensive ability needs developing, but don't underestimate just how good he is defensively.

*Graphs show p/90 numbers.

The Graph below shows Wan-Bissaka's (AWB) defensive numbers compared to other PL full-backs aged 24 or under.

Whilst his success rate is slightly below the average, he attempts and therefore completes a ridiculous amount compared to his peers.
So where do these tackles take place?

He isn't as attack minded as other full-backs, so isn't relied up on to get forward at any given chance. That's not to say he sits back either, with a lot his tackles coming in the middle 1/3.

He doesn't just sit back.
AWB thrives in 1 v 1 duels. His success rate of 59% is magnificent.

When watching AWB you can see he enjoys getting into these scenarios as you has a trust in his own ability.
These pressures graphs I've created are to emphasise that he isn't just a 'defensive' full-back where he sits back all game.

He gets into defensive situations anywhere on the right hand side, and more often than not comes out with the ball.
In the same way pundits rave about Trent Alexander-Arnold's superb offensive ability. I think it's time AWB got the credit he deserves for being a wonderful 'defensive' full back.
