Lionel Messi failures in crucial stages when his team needed him.

2006 World Cup. Messi was left on the bench in a quarter final vs Germany after he failed to impress the coach in the previous games. Argentina lost on penalties.
2007 Copa America final. Argentina were up against Brazil in a crucial game. Messi did his signature disappearing act and didn’t score or assist in a 3-0 loss.
2010 World Cup. After scoring 0 (ZERO) goals the entire World Cup, Messi and Argentina are facing Germany in the quarter final. Germany wins 4-0 and Messi is anonymous the entire game.
2011 Copa America. After once again failing to score in the entire tournament, Messi doesn’t score vs Uruguay in the QF, and Argentina are out on penalties.
World Cup 2014. After being carried through the semi final by mascherano, Messi disappears in the final and misses a crucial one on one chance.
Copa America 2015. After covering up a horrendous 1 goal tournament with 3 assists in a 6-0 win vs Paraguay, Messi once again disappears in the final vs Chile as Argentina loses.
Copa America 2016. Messi once again disappears in the final vs Chile, and on top of that skies his penalty in the shootout.
World Cup 2018. Scoring 1 goal the entire tournament, Messi tries to cover it up with an assist and a deflection vs France but it doesn’t work out as Mbappé shows Messi how to play in big games.
Copa America 2019. Argentina are out in the semi finals vs Brazil and Messi disappears once again. Messi blames the pitch and corruption.
Then he gets sent off vs Chile in the 3rd place match after 37 minutes. Argentina go on to win without him.

2005/06 UCL. Messi scores 1 goal in the tournament, doesn’t play QF SF and final, and proceeds to get carried to his first UCL trophy by Ronaldinho and E’too.
2006/07 UCL. Barca are knocked out vs Liverpool in the RO16. Messi is anonymous in both legs with 0 goals and assists.
2007/08 UCL. Barcelona meets United in the semi final. Messi has decent games but fails to score or assist and Barcelona are out.
2009/10 UCL. Barca face inter in the semi final. Messi anonymous across both legs, 0 goals or assists out of Barca’s 2 goals. Barca are eliminated.
2011/12 UCL. Barca face Chelsea in the semi final. Messi doesn’t score in both legs and misses a penalty in game. Barca are out 2-3 on aggregate.
2012/13 UCL. Messi invisible across both legs as Barca crash out 7-0 on aggregate to Bayern in the semi final.
2013/14 UCL. Barcelona are eliminated by Atlético Madrid. Messi invisible as he fails to score or assist in both legs.
2015/16 UCL. After the Neymar-inspired comeback vs PSG, Barca lose 3-0 to Juventus. Messi fails to score or assist. Dybala steals the show.
2017/18 UCL. Barcelona bottle a 4-1 lead to Roma in the quarter finals. Messi 0 goals and 0 assists across both legs. Misses a chance from 5 yards out near the last minute.
2018/19 UCL. After a stellar performance in the first leg scoring 2 goals, Messi fails to score any at Anfield and misses a great chance. This, along with his teammates’ wastefulness see Barcelona bottling another 3 goal lead.
