countin my guap was released today, 200522.
you may think this song with its’ lighthearted piano melody also includes lighthearted lyrics, well you guessed wrong, almost all of changmo’s songs are his deepest and most honest thoughts. this is the case with this song as well

it begins with the pre-chorus where he wonders what would be if he lost everything he built with his career and also if the person he is referring to would still stay with him if weren’t where he is now.. even though he came this far he still doubts himself

the chorus starts and it’s almost completely in english, he counts his band (could refer to money but also his friends, his people) also saim which is a symbol for him making it big while he came from nothing (saim saim explains it perfectly) all in all highlighting his success

the first verse dives deeper into his thoughts as it is kind of him talking to himself about his loneliness
even though he has all that money now he still doesn’t feel content, he’s still scared, he still tries to calm himself down and he’s still trying to accept his loneliness

the pre-chorus and chorus are followed by the second verse which reveal his true thoughts about his situation and his fear of being all alone and dealing with this...

again we get the feeling of his loneliness, he is trapped in his mind thinking about how he can leave this torture and worry.. it gets really dark when he reveals his wish to die but not being able to and proceeding to hide in a dark closet. all night counting his blessings

it seems like he is trying to remind himself of all his blessings and keeps on listing them as the chorus follows one last time so he can rid himself of all his dark thoughts, but we all know no matter how much money you have, loneliness can never be gone just because you have it

changmo gave us a deep look into his heart and mind, reminding us all that everyone is fighting with their demons. status or wealth can’t erase your struggles, worries and fears. i’m sure he picked this song to release because of the current situation in which we all feel trapped

the design:
we can see changmo standing on stage behind closed curtains, his head down. this fits with the message of the song that no matter what it may look like on the outside, we never know what goes on behind the scenes and being successful doesn’t always mean being happy

i hope you all realize who changmo really is, see not only his success but try to look for lyrics and hints in his discography. look deeper and you’ll find the absolute sweetest most humble human in him he is a bright light in many people’s lives but he still sometimes forgets
