A lot of the bad takes I’m seeing today are really bad because they treat voting as the only way to be politically engaged.
You vote for the person most aligned with your values and then you work with elected officials, grassroots orgs, advocacy orgs, etc. to push policies and proposals to be further aligned with your values.
Politics, candidates, and elected officials are not utopian. It’s an ongoing negotiation. We make progress by channeling our emotions, channeling our anger into strategy that is executed 365 days a year, not just during election season.
You can’t make progress if you don’t show up in November. And you don’t make progress if you aren’t engaging in the political progress 365 days a year.
Show up and put your feet on these motherfuckers necks! Because we deserve better, and more importantly, our babies deserve better. We owe it to them to give them a better world and better choices than we’ve been given.
If you haven’t completed your census, do so now. It’s political action that advocates for your community (just like voting). Do it now. http://2020census.gov
