Okay first up!
My girl put in a good ten years work in the ensemble of multiple shows, she’s trained, prepared and ready for her star to shine.

Karen literally moved from Iowa to NYC and expected to be the star of a broadway show straight away, she had no experience yet!!

IVY WAS GIVEN MARILYN it was literally ripped away from her TWICE, the woman was born for it, she had Marilyns body & soul as well as having the chops to play such a complex character, her voice also complimented the style of the show and went perfectly with Tom and Julias vision

She watched every movie, read every book, studied Marilyn’s movements and mannerisms. Ivy also had such a sad past filled with hardships much like Marilyn.

Karen was too optimistic and green and up to that point hadn’t really suffered,at least not for her art.

Ivy fell hard for Derek who not only cheated on her multiple times, flirted with her competition, dismissed Ivy in rehearsals, ignored her, lied AND hired Karen knowing it would mess with Ivys head.... no wonder Ivys head was all over the place, she had no real anchor

Her mother overshadowed her, dismissed Ivys achievements and then took a job working on Ivys first big project. Imagine dealing with that at home AND work, as well as dealing with a manipulative/cheating boyfriend who she also had to work with

In conclusion, Ivy Lynn just wanted to be told that she was GOOD, she needed some reassurance since the closest people in her life never gave it to her.
