For millennials, the problem is primarily *housing.*

Do you have any idea how psychologically painful it is to know, as you approach 40 with kids, that you will never be able to afford a home as nice as you grew up in, even if you make more than your parents did adjusted for inflation?
Spread that across an entire generation.

Boomers could sow their wild oats in their 20s and still come out just fine.
But even millennials who sucked it up, lived conservatively, did what they were supposed to and played by all the rules find themselves with lower expectations and lower standards of living.
