Kicking off a thread of my #SheRa season 5 BGs. This season was the most intense yet for the colour team and I'm SO proud of the work @Kate_Farina and I did for it. The Velvet Glove was the hardest location in the whole show to get 'right' and Im very happy with how it turned out
Noelle let me design Horde Prime's Nebula Interface sometime in S3 or S4 and I really love how it looks with the Velvet Glove's shape language. Our BG models were sculpted by Roger Oda. Also, I got to paint a LOT of glowy anime crystal stuff and thats my favourite.
Another thing I got to do this season was Props. She-Ra's New sword was designed by Elizabeth Kresin (our incredible AD) and I was asked to colour design it. I was really proud of the subtle crystalline structure but it could only be seen in extreme close ups ha ha
My favourite BG of these 4 is the Transformation Colourcard. It feels special when you're trusted to design an important element from scratch when you're on the colour team. Most of our work is on top of work from the Black+White team so I got giddy to really go ham with rainbows
I've previously posted my BG's from earlier seasons, but out of all of Mara's Ship, Catras little closet room feels the most cohesive to me. I dont know why, I just think it's neat. Also, I appreciated colouring this huge Scientifically Improbable Asteroid Pan
I'm pretty sure the Deep Woods Elementals were designed by @LaneGarrisonArt as were most of the critters in Etheria. I absolutely loved painting the rebellion colour cards even though we had to send most of them as roughs. it's very easy to work off @raegeii's character designs
You'll notice that some of these are a lot rougher than you'd think. Our incredible animation studio, NE4U, really knocked it out of the park even when time crunch mandated that not all of our BG's could be sent clean.
and to wrap up, some Prime Drill and Heart Of Etheria off-shots. That extremely impressive pan shot of the Heart was actually completely done by Oliver Tseng and there was NO way I could match him in raw unfiltered talent. He was responsible for a TON of pre-dev and design.
Thats about it for the pretty stuff I was responsible for, check out my wifes thread for more S5 BG's and info. https://twitter.com/Kate_Farina/status/1263880713725607938?s=20
I also want to thank our team for being the best god damn crew in the world. I think it's very clear from the show itself just how much every single person cared about this show and its message. We genuinely bonded in such a short few years and I can call most of that team family
it's genuinely so rare in this industry for a team to bond so strongly, to understand and appreciate the full weight of a project like She-Ra. I can only pray to experience something like that again in my career. Thank you so much to everyone.
and the biggest thanks to my friend, @Gingerhazing, for taking a chance on a trans guy with no animation experience and changing my life for the better in so many inconceivable ways. You deserve the world and I can't wait to see what She-Ra was a stepping stone towards. 💛✨🌈
