I covered the @utahjazz as a rookie reporter at KIDK in Idaho. Jerry was so intimidating, until he wasn’t. A reporter from our rival station & I would carpool 2.5 hrs to SLC to cover games. Jerry was so patient, knowing we were nervous and would wait until the other reporters walked away to answer our questions. He was kind, honest, never condescending (to two women in our mid-20’s from a tiny TV market in Southeast Idaho, one-man-banding it) and respectful (cont)

Jerry and his coaching staff ate their pregame meals in the media workroom, swimming with reporters. They could’ve eaten in their own area but instead, sat amongst us like equals. Nothing “high and mighty” about them. That humble attitude was prevalent in the Jazz org.(cont)
