For all of the people who think that #libertarians don't have a plan to address #climatechange, here's my relatively frugal solution to combat it as well as improve living standards for all.

I call it the Lean & Green Plan. #LGP
(It's more of an UnPlan.)
1. Complete phase-out of all fossil fuel subsidies. Need I say more?

(Someone is probably saying yes. I don't care.)
2. Deregulation of the #housing market (zoning, building codes, rent controls, mortgage interest deduction, etc) to encourage density, discourage sprawl, decrease long commutes, and increase innovation in living spaces. More housing options = lower rents. #YIMBY
3. Eliminate onerous laws that discourage people from working from home. If your home can be modified for your particular business, you should be allowed to do it. This can save entrepreneurs money on start-up costs, commutes, & other related headaches.
4. Eliminate #flood insurance subsidies. It's a complete waste of money that encourages building (& rebuilding!) in risky, flood-prone areas. This will save lives, save taxpayers money, improve water quality, and decrease habitat degradation.

(Yes, your rates might just go up!)
5. #Transportation overhaul. Increase safety & improve traffic flow by removing road signs & stoplights. Switch over to traffic circles & shared space concepts instead. Couple this with the deregulation of self-driving cars, ridesharing services, e-scooters, & passenger drones.
(Shared spaces make it easier for cars, scooters, etc to coexist on the streets while passenger drones make it possible for more of us to take to the skies. We should totally start allowing more buildings to retrofit rooftops w/ landing pads! The future is gonna be amazing AF!)
6. #NUCLEAR ENERGY! The pace of innovation has been slow bc the current regulatory regime isn't attractive to investors. It could eventually be much cheaper than it is now. If you care about #climatechange (AND SPACE TRAVEL!), we should #DEREGULATE. Solar & wind need competition!
7. Increase immigration. Welcoming more immigrants (yes, even low-skilled!) from all countries is mutually beneficial from an economic standpoint and makes it possible for the global community to use less land overall.
8. Carbon Fee & Dividend. This is preferable to a straight carbon tax or cap & trade scheme. Yes, there IS a small government case for some environmental regulations as your activities can be harmful to others.
I could have gone into greater detail with this, but at least this paints a somewhat clear picture of what life could be like w/ more freedom- that isn't Dickensian! All of these #libertarian suggestions CAN WORK in concert to make a significantly cleaner, safer, & richer world.
