I read this @BBCNews article a while ago OCD with the title "I spent 20 years preparing for the coronavirus pandemic". I thought long and hard about commenting, but I think the narrative (title) could be unhelpful and misleading to those with OCD. 1/4 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-52564434#">https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stor...
2/4 In my opinion the title & #39;I spent 20 years preparing for the coronavirus pandemic& #39; is problematic, but I accept it& #39;s the authors view and opinion. But technically, I don& #39;t the person did (but I understand the viewpoint). Here& #39; the difference (important OCD part)...
3/4 People with OCD have been doing unnecessary rituals and behaviours to prevent perceived & #39;possible& #39; dangers from potentially happening then or later. Fuelled by OCD over-inflated sense of responsibility and risk perception in many cases.
4/4. The coronavirus pandemic is where people are carrying out recommended rituals and behaviours to reduce the risk of a clear and present danger. i.e. The behaviour is in response to the real & #39;right now& #39; risk.
I should have spell checked all that before pressing tweet.. but it& #39;s been yet another long day/week/month/2020. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤣" title="Rolling on the floor laughing" aria-label="Emoji: Rolling on the floor laughing">
