Fantasies of power attainment were the bane & destruction of fed NDP. That was never the NDP’s role in Canadian politics. Their role was an essential one. Bringing the needs of the working class to the forefront.

Compare what the conditions of working class were to what conditions were in 2000. The NDP influenced changes by representing those who had not received representation until the CCF was formed.

Then Jack threw it away by attempting to become PM, unsatisfied with mere influence.

The best system of Canadian governance was three parties. One always advocating for the working class. Regardless of who was in power. Precisely because they weren’t seeking power, just influence to protect the most vulnerable. Altruism, not power attainment.
