#AGUSTD2 | daechwita - a confrontation from slave to king; a thread
to start, a small introduction to the origins of the 'min' clan (only one to ever exist) to which yoongi belongs (31st generation).

• the min clan notably has queens and representatives of the korean government as ancestors!
i also recommend you to read this thread before, to understand why i am talking about a "double" in the following tweets :

#AGUSTD2 | daechwita - the king

• the king is scarified, which shouldn't be be possible.
• it was impossible at the time to gain access to the throne if you had a mark that could be a sign of impurity.
• the king enslaves and oppresses his subjects
• the king confronts his double, literally crushes him, but agust d organizes himself with his accomplices.
• and above all, the king is alone. he cuts off the heads of anyone who gets in his way, as the boxes next to him let us know.
#AGUSTD2 | daechwita - the slave "agust d"

• he calls himself that way
• the slave is of low birth, he wears a hemp/ cotton hanbok, intended for the people
• he has ambitions, despite his scar. he goes forward and does not care about his surroundings (jinkook fighting)
• the slave gathers, he brings a community around him and even has modern objects which surpass king's own ones (we'll talk about it later).
however despite the help, he's captured and jailed. that does not prevent him from possessing all the things the king has, or until now, had.

the king blindfold him, in an attempt to take his possessions away from him, to bring him back to what he is.
despite everything, agust d, a former slave and coming from the "lower people", claim himself as the king of the kingdom.

the king therefore faces him, weapon in hand, to cut off his head.
despite the show of force with his sword, the king cannot cut the slave's head.

it's a way of saying: "keep talking and playing with your sword from the top of your stairs, i don't care because i have now dethroned you."
unable to defend himself against the slave who made his way to the palace, the king, betrayed by his own subject, is then killed, by a shot. agust d becomes the new ruler of the kingdom.
it is not agust d's rank that allowed him to achieve what he achieved, but his determination despite his scar and what it means, imbued with his being and which is part of him.
min yoongi of daegu, with music as a passion, starting from a tiny agency, made his way to the top thanks to his persistence and talent, nothing else. not with the help of connections, not with money. just himself.
#AGUSTD2 | daechwita - modern and vintage objects

the king has the oldest items while the slave has the most recent one :

• the sword
• the gun
• the car
• the jade and the key (which i'll talk about later)
— sword/ saber

the dance that the king performs with his saber is typical of korean culture; it is called "kunmudo".
kunmudo is a martial art using combat techniques with dance and music; a "combat dance". the earliest origins of kunmudo come from the teaching of hwarangdo. it is performed wearing a hanbok.
— the gun

relatively modern weapon, it did not have its place at the time, which privileges cannons and long rifles much later.
— the car

a symbol of power, wealth and with a strong affect. with it, we're able to cross all borders and conquer all horizons.

it's also in contradiction with the rest of the mv. it's a direct reference to modern agust d.
#AGUSTD2 | daechwita - both continuation and parallel of "AGUST D".

• the king is seated on the throne (at the top) at the beginning of daechwita/ agust d is tied up
• agust d is at the top of the truck / the slave kills the king to show his superiority
• take a look at the similarity between the agust d and the slave outfits
• going with his signatures:

both of them are only one person ; agust d, only separated by time and period.
#AGUSTD2 | daechwita - the jade

jade is a symbol of royalty, but does not have the same value as other gemstones. it is not fungible like gold, and jade is not a single polished and cut crystal, as it is the case with diamonds or rubies.
jadeite and nephrite jade are stones formed from nested microcrystals. it comes in different shapes and sizes, and can contain impurities or grains in the stone that define its character. it means that each piece of jade is unique.
i find the parallel between the 2 objects and our protagonists interesting:
• on one side we find the golden key (rich) which opens the doors to new opportunities, especially power
• on the other hand, jade with its impurities, meaning flaws (scar)
that's about all i could see and collect on this mv, i could add more in the future if i think about it. thank you for reading it!

feel free to share and comment/ quote, i'm curious to see what y'all have to say about it.
