All of Manchester United’s signings post sir Alex Ferguson rated.
Guillermo varela 3/10
The first, Guillermo varela transferred from Peñarol for 2.8 million euros. Played well at the back end of the 15/16 season when called upon. However, not given a run in the first team.
Marouane Fellaini 7/10
Fellaini joined us on deadline day 2013 for 37 million pounds. He may have been hated at times but, did the role he was set out to do scoring many crucial goals for the club.
Juan mata 7/10
We may not have got the prime mata we were all hoping for however he’s always been very consistent for the club. Although he may not be a starter anymore he’s a good rotational player in the side.
Ander Herrera 8/10
One of my personal favourites after his 29 million pound move from Bilbao ander was a clear fan favourite putting his all in for the badge and even winning our 2017 player of the season. It’s a shame it ended how it did with a good player like him.
Luke shaw 6/10
Ups and downs for Luke shaw yes after becoming the most expensive teenager of all time back in 2014. Was playing very well until his unfortunate injury in 2015. Recently his performances have improved but still hasn’t lived up to his Southampton days.
Marcos rojo 4/10
After his 15 million pound move from sporting in 2015 Marcos has been very injury prone and struggled to find a consistent path into the first team. Due to this he’s fallen down the pecking order which has now led to a loan move back in his home nation Argentina.
angel di maria 5/10
A British record 59.7 million pound move was ups and downs. Despite his ‘flop’ status angel still provided over 13 assists in all comps. In my opinion he deserved more chances after being regularly benched by Louis van gaal.
Daley blind 7/10
A cheap 13.8 million pound move was a good one. A very versatile and consistent player helping out at LB,CB and CDM. Was very consistent in his 4 years at the club and in my opinion he should have stayed longer.
Radamel falcao 2/10
A world class forward coming back off a lengthy injury before his 1 year loan spell. 4 goals all season. Missed many chances, looked rusty. Forget this ever happened.
Victor Valdes 3/10
Only managed 2 games for the first team, both resulting in draws. Left the club with a terrible attitude. Footballing legend however it didn’t work out here due to him being behind David de gea.
Memphis depay 5/10
We saw glimpses of how good Memphis depay was. However after he appointment of Jose mourinho he managed only a select amount of bench appearances. In my opinion he deserved more chances to prove to the world he could be s star at the club.
Matteo darmian 4/10
His first season or so at RB/LB he was very solid and consistently picked. However from then he became deadwood due to lack of first team opportunities. I rate his professionalism for never bad mouthing the club though and he definitely has my respect.
Morgan schneiderlin 3/10
Brought in as a very good and consistent player from the saints it never worked out for Morgan. A few solid games in his first season never led to a consistent first team place, seeing him fall to the reserves after Jose came in. Flopped at United.
Bastian schweinsteiger 4/10
Unfortunately we didn’t have bastian in his prime but when he was declining. Couldn’t keep up with the pace of the league. Top bloke however we signed him at the wrong time.
Sergio Romero 8/10
Free transfer, Romero has been a brilliant 2nd choice keeper behind de gea. Helping us to Europa league glory in 2017 with amazing performances. Despite not being number 1 he’s got his head down and been brilliant for 5 years.
Anthony martial 8/10
Been ups and downs for tony at United since his first season. Doubts about his best position have been talked about. But with 16 goals 11 assists this season at the age of 24 it’s clear to see united have a number 9 for years to come.
Eric bailly 5/10
When fit Eric is arguably the best centre back at the club with Maguire. But that’s always been his downfall. A fantastic first season in 2016/17 then followed up with many injury hit campaigns. If he stays fit he can be a starter for the club for years to come.
Zlatan ibrahimovic 8/10
Did what he was told to do. Score goals. 28 goals at the age of 35 for Manchester United. Scared defenders, bullied them. Only reason the rating isn’t higher is due to it only being a short 1 year signing, with no longevity to it.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan 5/10
Showed glimpses of class at United. A key factor in our 2017 Europa league win. After that year to settle he started the next season fantastically, assist machine, but after that it drastically fell apart as he left for arsenal after 18 months with United.
Paul Pogba 7/10
Club record fee, Paul has proved he’s one of the world’s best midfielders. Only thing missing. Consistency. The lack of world class players around him has left Paul stranded at time. Hopefully the signing of bruno can help him to succeed. He was top scorer 18/19.
Victor Lindelof 7/10
Victor after a shaky first season at United responded to all critics with a fabulous 2nd season with the club coming 2nd in our player of the year votes. However this season he’s yet again gone back to those cautious/shaky ways and not been as consistent.
Romelu Lukaku 7/10
An amazing first season with 28 goals was quickly followed up with a disappointing 2nd with only half that total after falling out of favour under new manager ole solskjær. Put on severe muscle after 2018 leading to a downfall in performances.
Nemanja matic 6/10
A near flawless first 6 months at United turned into inconsistent, sluggish play from the Serbian. However in both 18/19 and 19/20 he’s showed consistent spells of brilliance inbetween those poor spells proving himself to be a valuable squad member.
Alexis Sanchez 2/10
Flop. In 17/18 he did show glimpses. Spurs in the cup, city away. Big games he played well. Going into 18/19 we were expecting the best Sanchez possible. Instead we got 2 goals in all competitions and an injury prone 400k forward sitting there. Worst signing.
Diogo dalot 6/10
Yet again showed at some stages he can be a good player. However with the signing of Aaron wan Bissaka he’s fallen down in the pecking order, to go along with consistent injury troubles.
Fred 8/10
A poor, poor first season by Fred. Not really given a consistent period to settle. However, this season he’s proven many people wrong with consistent, quality performances after being given a run of games. POTY contender for us.
5/10
Played 2 games. Lost them both. 3rd choice. Nothing really too say.
Daniel James 7/10
A 15 million pound signing from Swansea Dan started the season amazingly with 3 goals in his first 4 games. After this a decline did occur. However he is still 22 and is still adapting to the league. He has he clubs most assists with 7 this season.
Aaron wan Bissaka 9/10
What a signing. Every week, flawless. Only improvement needed is his forward thinking however since the turn of the new year we’ve seen a better side of Aaron going forward. Defensive rock, will be at the club for years to come.
Harry Maguire 7/10
The fee of 80 million pounds certainly raised a few eye brows. A brilliant debut performance vs Chelsea resulted in a few inconsistent months from the English man. However, since being handed captain Harry has been a rock solid player and will be key to utd.
Bruno fernandes 9/10
9 games-4 goals,4 assists. What else can I say? Won premier league player of the month in his first month in the league. If he continues this a club legend is really in the making. This man could be the start of something at Manchester United.
