//gm gamers. Thinking abt what happened to Derek during the skip

By default he's not aligned with any of the powers which most likely leaves him to forage/steal for his survivalβ€”a lifestyle he's worked so hard to leave behind.

He's so deeply ashamed of it. He creates a new
habit to cope. He's never been the religious type, but he feels he's gonna need any and all forgiveness he can get from whoever will grant it. He doesn't quite realize it has to come from himself first, especially in this case where he feels he failed himself..

Accepting
himself in these ways is so difficult for him and something he's struggled with practically his whole life in one way or another (i.e. being an "orphan," being bi/demiro, never being enough for everyone, etc.)

Now he's having difficulty justifying his actions during the war even
though he well knows he needed to do what he did to survive = seeking higher powers to help validate him, despite never really believing in them before. He's that desperate.

Even though he's doing this, maybe deep down he still feels he's not worth the justification. Maybe he
knows praying for forgiveness is fruitless, and it's just a way for him to torture himself by setting up a false hope he will forever be chasing. Once a thief, always a thief. And thieves must be punished appropriately.
//in conclusion, I love Derek so much and I'm like 90% sure he's the only oc I've ever put this much thought into : )
