Already Dihing Patkai is in serious danger, Dibru-Saikhowa National Park is also given the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change clearance to Oil India Limited to carry out hydrocarbon exploration using ERD technology to drill.

This is going to have a very serious impact on the wildlife and the Park itself. The kind of hazards such drilling will bring about is unthinkable--from the pipeline installations to the multiple chemicals which are used in a drilling process.

These chemicals include multiple drilling fluids/muds such as caustic soda, ammonia, acid job, bentonite gel and so on used at various depths of the drilling. The residue that comes out of the drilling is often dumped out, without treatment or care, thanks to the liberal

environmental laws or ignorance in India. Not to mention the damages and impacts various sounds, vibrations and amount of spillage such as high speed diesel, mobil, and so on will bring about. Is this a model of self reliance?

Can ERD tech solve these impacts to the environment and ecology? Cutting edge technologies often are misused, this is one such example.

It appears eco-sensitive zones only exist for poor people.
