Once upon a time, Lara and Banke were young teenagers who lived on opposite walls in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.
They grew to be so fond of each other, they were indeed best friends
Unfortunately, a time came when Banke had to relocate to the USA with her family. This made Lara so sad
.
"I will miss you, my friend"
She said, as they said their last goodbye and held each other

Unfortunately, a time came when Banke had to relocate to the USA with her family. This made Lara so sad

"I will miss you, my friend"
She said, as they said their last goodbye and held each other
for the very last time till only God knows when.
Both of them tried to stay in touch through mails, sending hand written letters to each other at different times.
Oh! What a bond they shared! Even distance couldn't separate them.

As Banke grew older, she became independent and financially stable to afford her flight ticket to visit Lagos, Nigeria. This brought Lara so much joy!
A few years after Banke's visit, Lara got engaged. She sent a letter to her friend saying,
A few years after Banke's visit, Lara got engaged. She sent a letter to her friend saying,
"Dear Banke, let's just say you'd be my maid of honour sooner than you expected..."
Banke read Lara's letter and sent a response. She started her letter by affirming her love for Lara. She then went on to talk about her mum's illness- Banke's mum was dying of cancer.

She ended the letter apologising to Lara on how her mother's illness would make her absent at Lara's wedding.
She congratulates Lara and wishes her the best in her marriage.
Lara joyfully received Banke's letter, opened it and started reading from the third paragraph.

This was the paragraph Banke stated she would not be able to make it to Nigeria for her wedding.
Lara drops the letter angrily, thinking and saying so many things. "How can she do that? I thought we were friends and yet, she chose not to show up on my big day!

She is so selfish, I will never forgive her for this."
I'm sure at this point you're wondering 'oh wow! How can Lara say that about Banke? Did Lara not read about her mum's cancer in the letter?'
This would make sense to you now.

Remember all the times you opened your Bible, looked through the epistles, decided to read a verse in Ephesians and derived a conclusion from that verse alone, or all the times you read a chapter in the middle of Romans and based your understanding on that chapter alone.
Do you remember all the times you did that?
Can you see how the character Lara resonates with you?
The epistles are letter written to churches e.g
Ephesians was written to the church at Ephesus.
Colossians was written to the church at Colossae.
Since the epistles are letters,

Since the epistles are letters,
Do you see how unreasonable it is to start reading from the middle of a book or to just read a random verse. You'd definitely misinterpret scripture by doing that.

Your understanding can't be accurate if you don't read the letter from the beginning. Just like Lara didn't understand Banke's letter.
Now that you know, can you please desist from such behaviour?
Don't just open your Bible and read any verse and say 'Yes! This is what God is

Aunty, uncle, brother, sister, calm down and read in context.
Cultivate the habit of reading the Bible in books. Remember it is a letter, so read from the beginning.
Say no to the Lara syndrome in your life
Tell Lara to pack and go
Bye now
