i spend a lot of time thinking really hard about how to create a more just, compassionate world, and reading the thoughts of people a lot wiser and older than me dedicated to the same, but it's real hard sometimes to stay the course, and today is one of those days
it's real hard to remain committed to kindness and compassionate approaches to abuse reform when there's no accountability, for anything, if the perpetrator is the right kind of person. never the right time to go public. never the right time to remove them. never the right time.
If you have the ability to remove an abusive person from power as a senior and you *don't*, then it's cowardice. Don't fool yourself into thinking it's anything else. It's cowardice. It's reasonable fear, but it's just fear. It's hard to act, but if you don't we end up here.
Fucking inundated, from all sides, continually, with the evidence of what that societal cowardice does, people too invested in themselves and their status to do what needs to be done, to take action to protect people and even help the people doing harm do better. I'm tired.
this thread could be a subtweet of so many different things because everything is awful but it's just general anger. love my american friends but from the bottom of my heart: fuck america. fuck what that hellscape is doing to the people living there and people around the world.
