So, Agust D was really a radical presence in the mv. I find it interesting that he is a distant relative and member of the Min clan, that held some political power. The king's long hair and the nobel men's top knots were viewed as legacies from their parents +
Then suddenly you have Agust D enter the market, rip his hat off and starts walking through with his boys in short hair! In an era where that was considered highly disrespectful.
Also, the name of the song Daechwita (대취타) is a traditional Korean song played during marching. It literally is military music and in the words of Agust D himself, the entry song of the King.
I read a brief theory that The King hired Agust D to work for him, then they bumped heads.
But I am thinking something different. Yoongi shared that as Suga he feels more bound artistically than as Agust D (see: him having to alter the of lyrics to Respect for the album).

The version of himself that is bound by obligation, rules, expectations, thats Suga. Thats the King. Which makes sense when you consider all the acclaim he has as an artist is as Suga, not Agust D.
BTS was originally meant to be a rap group. Yoongi was promised when he joined

BH he would be a rapper/producer and wouldn't have to dance.
Now, although he has achieved his dreams and goals, as Suga he had to conform in some ways to do so. Agust D on the other hand, he doesn't conform.

I really loved his response to this question, and I kind of think its reflected in Augst D's actions. Yoongi has said this several times in different ways, but its up to the individual how we choose to live.
Let's get into some lyrics, because a lot of speculation about who he is referring to has been going around. But to a degree he could be referring to his alter ego.
"Who's the King? Who's the boss?
You all know my name."

"Who's the King? Who's the boss?
You all know my name."
Since we know Suga, we know his track record, be it as a member of BTS or a producer/rapper soloist (stream Eight yall!), we really shouldn't still in 2020 question his status . . . Or should we?
Honestly, this song is the biggest flex. I know he literally says I don't need to flex but baby boy, you're rapping against yourself. I.e. your only competition!
Why do I say that? Well, the King's last night in this verse is "off with their heads."

Now, initially I chuckled thinking of the Alice in Wonderland line, but lets talk facts.
During the Joseon era, there were 5 punishments. The 5th and final being the death penalty by strangling or hanging as sanctioned by 3 tiered review system and followed up by a royal sanction

Suga, being the King in question, has several masked criminals (*cough* rivals *cough*) beheaded and then displayed as a reminder. That he is king and you cross the line you will be handled. Period. The display of these severed heads is called hyosu (효수).
Suga did this in broad daylight. He was flexing his authority and kingship. He didn't have any empathy for these people, frankly they had it coming.
Beheading was really reserved for commoners. Nobels that brought shame on the palace were forced to drink poison.

So here, our favorite power drunk King Min Suga is in his palace DANCING WITH THE SEVERED HEADS OF HIS HATERS! When guess who DRIVES UP!
Suga was celebrating his success. He is literally bodying ppl. He didnt expect someone to drive into his court.

At some point we are really going to have to talk about how Agust D is clearly from the future, but we not going to worry about that right now. Instead let's break down one of my FAVORITE moments because it's getting good!
First of all, we have Agust D and King Suga sizing each other up. Both smirking bc they already know (they own my ass) that they run things.
King really thinks its amusing that someone dare pull up on him. Don't they see the severed heads? Don't they recognize who he is?

Bruh, Agust D hopes out the whip with all the homies (looking like he just escaped a vending machine
) talking hella sht! First of all, I want yall to peep, he interrupted the execution. During the Joseon era, some executions were scheduled. All the prisoners young King

killing are wearing matching garb. Its likely they were already on his hit list. King Suga, basically is a firm believer in the "talk sht get hit" mantra but Agust D aint got time for that.He basically tells the supposed King there isn't enough space in Korea for both of them.
Then straight like that he drops some fighting words "i'm about to spit in your face!"
Which is also interesting to note bc its well known spitting on the ground in Korea is common practice, what isn't well known is the fact that its actually illegal

Imagine, someone coming into your house, in the middle of your party, and then saying they going to spit on you. Idk about yall but now we got to fight.
At this point King Suga is really sick of this sht so he signals them to off Agust D. Remember I said earlier, a royal sanction was needed for an execution. So boom, here it is.
In the next scene we see Agust D bound and surrounded by fire, IN THE SAME CLOTHES! (I will explain why thats important in a 2nd). He is still talking but this time his words are more sobering. Initially they sound boastful but really, they are what he calls a reality a check.
BTS have spent 7 yrs working towards their dreams. Really it wasn't until 2016 that they started to get more recognition. When this all started they didn't have much hope of success only dreams. But now they've achieved all their old goals, so Yoongi is looking to stay grounded.
Next we have Agust D exclaim "Im a King, Im a boss. Remember my name!" While King Sug says "Im a king, I'm a boss. You all KNOW my name!" First off, Yoongi accepts his status as being a top idol, but also recognizes he shares that spot with others. (See humbled.)
But he also wants to be remembered for his unfiltered side. He has a lot to say, being confined to the title of idol("country too small to hold me yet")it isn't enough anymore. He wants us to realize both of these personas are him.We know Suga but we should get to know Agust D too.
Okay. Now back to the beef. King Suga has demanded Agust D's head IMMEDIATELY! Remember when i said take note of everyones scheduled deaths? Yeah well Agust D isn't getting one of those. Why? Because he committed a grave offense. Lets review shall we?
What did Agust D do?
1) He cut his hair, again in the Joseon era that was forbidden. It was seen as REBELLION against your parents. So it was also UNFILIAL BEHAVIOR.
2) Rolled up in the Kings court w/ friends and threatened him. That sir is INSURRECTION!
So yall know the drill
