Excellent campaigning session to mark the end of my first month at @theirworld lead by @rebshark. Led to this 2 minute vision for the future (including a shocking pink watering can which I now need) obviously inspired by the fact I haven’t actually sat in a garden for months...
It got me reflecting on the past 4 weeks and some key things I’ve learned since joining - so indulge me in a short thread, if you will...
1) Starting a new job in lockdown was hard, BUT it has made me a lot more mindful and aware of how I work with others, and just how important connection is when you’re working in a cause or values based organisation...
2) Having the time to learn in a new job is a huge privilege, and having colleagues that support me to crawl - nevermind walk or run, has been wonderful!
3) On the subject of learning (see what I did there?) joining post COVID means there is a hell of a lot of work to do in making sure we don’t lose a generation of learners, and that the future of kids all over the world isn’t forgotten
4) Getting us there isn’t going to be easy, but again I’m reminded what an amazing job campaigners do by stepping up when it counts and showing that investment is education is needed - now more than ever
5) and finally, the ONLY way we get this done is by working together. So if you haven’t heard from me yet - I’m coming for you...
