Top 10 Premier League players of all time, a thread:
This was a VERY DIFFICULT list to put together as there has been so many incredible players over the years, but this is the most reasonable order I could assemble

First, let’s start with some honourable mentions
Honourable Mentions List:

Sergio Aguero
Eden Hazard
Didier Drogba
Patrick Vieira

Nobody can deny these players were amazing, but sadly they don’t make the cut. Aguero May just make it into the list if we have the same conversation a few years later though
10. Alan Shearer

The highest goalscorer the league has ever seen has to be on this list. His consistency of scoring 20 goals+ a season has never been seen from any other player. It looks increasingly likely his records will remain for years to come
9. Paul Scholes

Scholes’ is one of the greatest midfielders of all time and along with that he has won everything there is to win. With 11 Premier Leagues to his name, he had been Alex Ferguson’s key player for a huge part of his tenure
8. Eric Cantona

Cantona pathed the way for the start of Manchester United’s domination of English footballer. Being named as united best player ever on multiple occasions, he has all but earned the title as one of the deadliest forwards the league has seen
7. Steven Gerrard

Gerrard’s greatness gets wrongly overshadowed by his lack of a premier league trophy. For 17 years he consistently proved himself to be in the core of Liverpool’s team and had successes in multiple competitions.
6. Nemanja Vidic

Vidic was a defender on another level. He was player of the season on two separate occasions with 95 clean sheets in 211 appearances. His defending widely regards him as not only one of the greatest in the premier league, but one of the best defenders ever
5. Cristiano Ronaldo

Despite his tenure in the premier league being short compared to others, Ronaldo still left his mark as as a player of incredible talent despite being young at the time. His 2007/08 season is regarded as one of the best ever seasons in history.
4. John Terry

John Terry finishes above Vidic due to his longevity. For 20 years Terry was as the top of the game and very rarely did his ability decline at any point. He won titles under multiple managers and proved himself to be one of the most effective centre backs ever
3. Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard was nothing short of a master in the midfield. His scoring ability was second to none, backed up by an unmatched intelligence on the pitch. Technically, he is the most complete midfielder the league will likely ever see
2. Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney is simply incredible. He was able to be one the greatest forwards in the world whilst also being unmatched when he played a deeper role. Outside the football pitch he has been idolised by many and his hard work has solidified his status.
1. Thierry Henry

This hurts as a spurs fan, but it cannot be denied that nobody has ever come close to Thierry Henry. Winning Four golden boots and two player of the seasons he was in a league of his own for the majority of his time in the league. No doubt he is number one.
