If anyone has ever had a more decisive club season than Diego Milito in 2009/10 then I'd love to know who

Messi laughably won the Ballon d’Or despite not getting a kick v Inter in both legs, and not even scoring at the World Cup. Barcelona had a 1,2,3 in Ballon d’Or race. Sneijder came 4th despite starring for Inter and also top-scoring and reaching final at World Cup.

Milito didn’t even make 30-man shortlist. Asamoah Gyan did after scoring 13 goals and finishing 9th with Rennes. So did Miroslav Klose after scoring 3 Bundesliga goals all season. This was the year where the Ballon d’Or officially lost all creditibility
