There’s a hot girl that works for another firm in my shared office space. I would chat her up in common areas. I noticed that when I gave her attention, she wouldn’t seem keen to chat. When I withdrew my attention, she would initiate convos more often and be more bubbly. . .

Once I discovered this, I tested it out. I decided to just ignore her and let her come to me. It worked well; she began initiating convos with me far more frequently than before while I stopped initiating with her almost entirely. . .

One night, we’re the last two in the building. She’s getting ready to leave and she initiates a convo. She’s going away on vacation for the next few days. I tell her, “let’s go out and grab drinks next week when you’re back”. She grins and says “Ok”. I get her number. . .

Little bit of texting back and forth that night. She’s surprisingly receptive and invests in the conversation to keep it going. That following week, I text her to invite her out to drinks; I give her the date, time, and location. She leaves it on read and never texts back. . .

I continue seeing her in the office every day. I decide she was only ever seeking attention, so I go the nuclear route. Not only do I withdraw my attention fully, but I overtly ignore her. She will walk by and say “hey”, and I don’t look at her or say a word back. . .

This seems to drive her crazy. She works harder than ever to regain my attention. She constantly says hi to me or asks me how I am, etc., and I just flat out don’t say a word back to her. She’ll coincidentally put herself in the common area when I’m there making coffee. . .

Quarantine comes. We’re out of the office for about two months. I saw her in the office last week, she says hi; I completely ignore her. A couple days ago, she’s all bubbly and initiates a convo with me; I feign disinterest. . .

There’s honestly no real point to this thread. I’m just frustrated with how difficult it has been for me to interact with women. Is this just how it is? Have I been unlucky with the women I’ve met? Or maybe I’m just a piece of shit? I don’t really know.
