CODA, a UK Music Agency, developed a bulk of its value by touring artists around the grassroots music venues, promoters and others, before selling CODA to Paradigm, a US firm. That music division is now, possibly, up for sale again. (1/2)
None of the proceeds of these sales goes back into grassroots venues, promoters and others that contribute to this value. Why not? Time for there to be a change. https://completemusicupdate.com/article/paradigm-in-talks-to-sell-music-division/
For clarity : what I mean is there’s no mechanism in the UK by which the sale of an asset in UK music triggers a % payment to an fund to reinvest in the grassroots from which that value was generated and built. So why don’t we make that happen?
Just in terms of live agencies, all of Coda (Paradigm), XRay (Paradigm), Primary (ICM) and The Agency Group (UTA) sold since 2015.
