Don& #39;t hate me but...

#DeathByPowerpoint slides feel even worse in an online course environment, because the in-person presenter energy is no longer there to compensate for text heavy slides on a default template.

This is why we hate webinars.

There& #39;s actually nothing wrong with a webinar format. Webinars can actually be fab & allow audience to have more control over their environment. that& #39;s a good thing.

The problem is the #DeathByPowerpoint presentation slides.

#AcademicChatter
Think about it... When someone has #DeathByPowerpoint slides for an in person presentation... We ignore them and watch the presenter instead.

In a webinar (or online course video) we lose that option & it& #39;s PAINFUL because we& #39;ve lost it.

Combined with the number of people using computer or webcam or apple headphone mics to record their online course videos...I& #39;m majorly concerned about what& #39;s going to happen in the fall with so many online courses

#DeathByPowerpoint + bad audio - in person instructor energy = https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="☠️" title="Skull and crossbones" aria-label="Emoji: Skull and crossbones">
Any dept shifting to online courses, IMO, desperately needs to:

1. Fund professional development training so instructors stop #DeathByPowerpoint

2. Purchase quality mics for ALL instructors

3. Provide support for online course development + $ for captions

I can help with #1 by the way https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😁" title="Grinning face with smiling eyes" aria-label="Emoji: Grinning face with smiling eyes"> I have an online course faculty can take to help them end #DeathByPowerpoint and can offer group rates. DM me if interested.
