Hi @jk_rowling may I ask you how is EKRIZDIS, the creator of Azkaban, related to the sinking of the Spanish Armada? I mean, it was just the right place at the right time... Let me explain it better:
I can explain it better in this video but I will try to make my point with this thread.
In the video I explain why Azkaban is triangular in the movies, a shape typical of defensive architecture. A building like this, in the middle of the sea is like a watchtower in order to alert of naval attacks. But let's begin with Azkaban history.
The dark wizard Ekrizdis builds a fortress on an island in the North Sea, near Scotland, at some point of the 15th century.
He uses it to make SAILORS SINK and torture and kill them!
We don't know when Ekrizdis died but when he did, the magic community found the island with a loooot of Dementors and decided to leave it for centuries. I guess Dementors kept feeding from the happines of sailors...
Until 1718 when the Minister of Magic, Damocles Rowle turned Azkaban into a prison and the Dementors its guards.
What happened in the island during the 16th and 17th century we don't know. But wow that's a BIG GAP in there!
And what happened in the area in 1588 in muggle history? The Spanish Armada sinking. I mean... come on! What a coincidence!
In 1588 Felipe II sends 127 ships from Lisbon to England in order to dethrone Elizabeth I but they wrecked due to weather conditions... Or that's what muggles say...
They are attacked in Calais and the afraid spaniards cut their anchors and the wind makes them sail to the North Sea.
It is known that a ship called El Gran Grifón crashes into Fair Island.
But again, what a coincidence:
- A great muggle sinking in 1588 in the North Sea.
- A dark wizard in the North Sea who used to make ships sink.
Maybe Ekrizdis was already dead... but the Dementors were still there with the need of sailors happiness.
Let me know your thinkings but wouldn't it be cool?
