It's the UK too. But right now they only feel empowered enough to attack Black people #bellymujinga #trevorbelle

What's happening in America shows us exactly what happens when the far right takes power and white people let racism slide. "First they came for the immigrants..." https://twitter.com/ProudSocialist/status/1263681084522246146
To clarify, we white people need to fight racism and xenophobia and the far right for their own sake, not as some instrumental concern. But if you think that this couldn't happen here, or that what's happening to POC and immigrants won't come to you in time, you are deluded.
Boris Johnson is the first PM we have ever had with the explicit backing of the far right. Even as the Tories enacted their agenda for the sake of appeasement, the leader never went far enough as to actually have their support. The far right hated Cameron, May, even Thatcher.
They *LOVE* Boris. Worship him. Go into that corner of the internet and the fawning over him is absolutely staggering. And that is where the conspiracy theories about Labour figures are emanating from, with increasingly far reach and no one in power interested in quashing them.
There are swathes of people who dwell in those parts of the internet who effectively think Keir Starmer is a pedophile. Look at the replies to any of his tweets.
We're not taking this seriously. Look how many Labour canvassers were assaulted at the last election (to deafening silence from the centrists who like to paint the left as thugs). What do we think that will be like when they think that we're canvassing for a sex offender?
Here is an extract:

"My fellow Americans, I have a favor to ask you.

Today is November 18, 2016. I want you to write about who you are, what you have experienced, and what you have endured..."
"Write down what you value; what standards you hold for yourself and for others. Write about your dreams for the future and your hopes for your children. Write about the struggle of your ancestors and how the hardship they overcame shaped the person you are today..."
"Write your biography, write down your memories. Because if you do not do it now, you may forget.

Write a list of things you would never do. Because it is possible that in the next year, you will do them..."
"Write a list of things you would never believe. Because it is possible that in the next year, you will either believe them or be forced to say you believe them."

In this crisis alone, we have normalised two much that none of us would have believed possible.
- manslaughter is less of a crime if the victims are old
- teachers and doctors and nurses and cleaners should expect to die in the execution of their jobs
- vulnerable people, who might not benefit from ventilation, can be left to asphyxiate with no treatment or palliation.
This is eugenics, brutality and state murder. Don't let anyone gaslight you into thinking otherwise. Don't let anyone call you hysterical (as many did when we on the left drew a link between Cummings hiring a eugenicist and the government following a "strategy" of herd immunity).
Don't let anyone use credentialism and elitism to say that you're voice doesn't matter. Don't let anyone tell you to save protest for a more convenient time. Don't let anyone tell you the disproportionate deaths of POC, the poor and disabled people are some kind of coincidence.
Don't let anyone tone-police or emotionally blackmail you into bestowing the benefit of the doubt on people who have demonstrated at every opportunity that they don't deserve it and that they will exploit it. Talk other people that see the truth and reinforce each other's voices.
We are going to need each other more than ever, not just to give material aid, as tens of thousands are across the country, but to look into our eyes and tell us that we are not "crazy", we are paying attention.
