I’m totally down for this! I’m gonna aim for no repeat games 😎
Day 1: Spark the Electric Jester’s Title Screen

This isn’t my favourite song in the game, but I’m not ashamed to admit that sat on this title screen for way too long just to let it play. It does a perfect job hyping you up for both the game and its OST.

Day 2: Sonic Colours - Tropical Resort Act 1

Was gonna choose Green Hill, but let’s be original! This is probably my 2nd or even favourite 1st level music. It’s so upbeat & funky - it sets the bar high for the rest of the OST, & yet it is still surpassed

Day 3: The Messenger - Bamboo Boogaloo

Beyond literally everything else, one thing I love about The Messenger is how every song has 8 & 16 bit versions. Both versions of this one hold up amazingly, but I think I have to give the edge to the 8 bit version

Day 4: Super Mario Galaxy - Buoy Base

No track better demonstrates the difference an orchestra makes than Buoy Base does. I particularly love the mixed version of both under and above water. Such a criminally underused track in the game, it’s phenomenal.

Day 5: Sonic Adventure - Welcome to Station Square

I know most aren’t fond of the hub worlds in Sonic Adventure, but I really liked them, and one of the reasons why was this very song. No matter if I was severely lost, this track always made me happy.

Day 6: Gravity Rush 2 - A Red Apple Fell From The Sky

There was a lot to pick from for this question, but I gotta give this some love. I wouldn’t say the song is used to be relaxing in the game, but that’s the vibe I get from it. A terrific ending theme.

Day 7: Celeste - Farewell

This is probably the longest song I’ll include on here, but boy is it beautiful. It has a perfect build up, a distinctly “Celeste” feel to it & a climax which never fails to give me chills. A brilliant song for a brilliant game.

Day 8: DOOM Eternal - At Hell’s Gate

In a shooter with as good an OST as this it’s hard to pick one song - so, I went with what the game greets you with. This song’s peak could very well have been from an intense boss - but no, it’s just the title screen

Day 9: Epic Mickey - Oswald’s Theme

I was going to choose this game’s theme song, but I associate this track with Epic Mickey just as much. I hope that this game & its surprisingly fantastic soundtrack won’t be forgotten like the creations inside of it…

Day 10: NieR: Gestalt - Song of the Ancients / Fate

This doesn’t have a consistent battle theme but this is probably my favourite battle song in it. Song of the Ancients is a song which you hear plenty, making this version of it pack that much more punch

Day 11: Crush - Nursery 2 (The End)

A song from Tetris Effect or Portal would be obvious, but let’s go obscure. This is a wonderfully creepy song which you wouldn’t expect to hear in a puzzle game - yet it thematically fits & is still a pretty great tune

Day 12: Metal Gear Solid 3 - Snake Eater

I waver on whether this is my favourite theme in MGS, but it’s certainly the saddest. The song itself didn’t illicit emotions from me - until I played 3. But my reaction to it doesn’t stop me from listening to it!

Day 13: Sonic ‘06 - Aquatic Base -Level 2-

Sometimes I wish this game’s soundtrack was as bad as the game so I would never have to think about ‘06 again. But no, the one single aspect of this game that it undeniably nails is its OST, like this song shows

Day 14: Sayonara Wild Hearts - Sayonara Wild Heart

I was gonna choose another NieR song - but I have to give some love to this game and its stunning OST. In a rhythm game, it is key that every song is stellar, and this game is a shining example of that.

Day 15: Yakuza 0 - Pledge of Demon

With this song, it was love at first… hearing…? Either way, this song pumps you up and is ridiculously epic. Everything about the boss fight with Kuze is phenomenal, but this song truly elevates it to the next level.

Day 16: Super Mario World - Underwater Theme

Believe it or not, I prefer this to Dire Dire Docks from Mario 64. This song is so tranquil and lovely, despite the limitations that songs back then face. This may just be my favourite 16 bit song of all time!

Day 17: Sonic CD - Quartz Quadrant Present

The EU/JP OST for CD is full of absolute bangers but this one is my favourite of the lot, it’s just so good. Playing this level without this song outright feels wrong to me because of how often I listen to this.

Day 18: Jet Set Radio - Rock It On

I happened to be born in the same year as Jet Set Radio, & while I may prefer Future’s OST, that’s not to say this isn’t great. I particularly like this track, though that might be my Sonic Rush nostalgia kicking in…

Day 19: GeminEye by The Megas (Cover of Gemini Man from Mega Man 3)

One day, I fell asleep listening to Spotify, and I somehow woke myself up in the middle of this bc it’s so good. It has elements of the original song but transforms it into a song I love

Day 20: Team Sonic Racing - Green Light Ride (The Qemists Scores Remix)

This is another game full of stellar tunes but this song strikes me as unnecessarily epic for simply being the garage theme. I actually prefer it to the original version of the song!

Day 21: Drakengard - First Chapter (On the Ground)

This game’s OST is interesting, as it’s meant to sound unsettling and be hard to listen to. Because I had to grind so much, I always heard this song, so it triggers a fight or flight response within me…

Day 22: NieR: Automata - Peaceful Sleep

Time for a less (but still stressful because it was my alarm song at one point) frustrating song - the resistance camp theme. I think this was the first time I was truly captivated by NieR’s music, it’s so gorgeous

Day 23: Alan Wake - The Poet and the Muse

This song is like poetry & yet I rarely hear people talking about it (or the music of it in general) when discussing Alan Wake. I’m a massive Poets of the Fall fan, so this won’t be their only appearance on this!

Day 24: Katamari Damacy - Lonely Rolling Star

I bought and played this game just because of this song, and yet I still think about it. I’m even considering getting the sequel games just so I can listen to Sayonara Rolling Star and Lonely Rolling No More!

Day 25: Control - Take Control

The Ashtray Maze in Control is one of the best moments in a video game that I have ever experienced, and this music plays a huge part in that. It perfectly fits every moment of the maze - and I was a sad once it stopped!

Day 26: Cadence of Hyrule’s Title Screen

I usually don’t listen to music from games I haven’t played yet - I can’t exactly remember how I stumbled across this song, but I was immediately enamoured by it. Actually… why *haven’t* I played this game yet?!

Day 27: Sonic Rush Adventure - Plant Kingdom

People say that Adventure’s OST is much worse than the original Rush - and I’d like to point those people to this song. Or, frankly, many of the songs in the game. I really love this song’s mix of Act 1 and 2.

Day 28: Ristar - Du-Di-Da!!

The was the first song which made me just stop playing and just listen to the music as a kid. It’s just so catchy! Ristar is full of great music but this really stuck out to me, and listening to it now reminds me of those days

Day 29) Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - It Has To Be This Way

Both the track & this fight are fantastic ways to end this stellar game. What I like about this song (apart from how good it is) is how it can be from either Raiden or Armstrong’s perspective

Day 30) Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne - Late Goodbye

This game’s ending hits hard, & this plays a big part in that. It’s probably my favourite credits theme in general, & it’s what got me interested in Poets of the Fall in general. I’m glad this thread is ending with this.
