(1/6) From our research, we found that 83% of New Starters have signed a contract of employment with their new companies.
95% of these people signed their contract or before 19th March 2020, before the CJRS was even announced. #newstarterjustice
(2/6) @RishiSunak has continually stated the exclusion of New Starters from the CJRS is a necessary measure to protect the tax payer from fraud. By this he means protecting the scheme from abuse by employers that may add 'ghost' employees to their claim.
(3/6) Our solution has remained the same since day one of our campaign. Review our evidence of employment to allow us to qualify for furlough payments. We are not frauds, we are not 'ghosts' and we are not tradeoffs.
(4/6) By legal definition, these employees have completely equal legal rights to their colleagues hired before them. They are seen as authentic and legitimate enough to warrant the statutory employment rights as all other members of the business.
(5/6) There is no argument against their legitimacy as an employee from any legal perspective, nor is there an argument in regards to their personal existence given the availability of NI numbers and personal tax records.
(6/6) So how can our legitimacy be questioned by a scheme which is designed to support employees? We signed our contracts before the CJRS existed. We will not be penalised by a faulty support system.
We are not frauds. We are #newstarterjustice.
