Unusual times call for Unusual solutions. With small businesses and unemployed bearing the brunt of the lockdowns, perhaps the only large companies benefiting should consider doing the right thing and earning the goodwill of the people. 1/X.

Reading reports of @amazon @Target @Walmart etc. seeing significant growth in sales over the last 2-3 months. It may not be cool with most of the shareholders but each of them should try to contribute at least a sizable portion of the increased margins to help out small biz. 2/X

Though I can’t be absolutely certain, but have a fair degree of confidence that such a step would add unbelievable value, to the extent of much more than they pay out. Being a truly great company also means being supportive strong stewards of society and citizens. 3/X

By supporting the survival of such cities, towns, and the people that form the DNA of the local economies, the large enterprises ensure that recovery will happen faster and not dependent on just government policies, grants and loans which are only means of survival for some 4/X

Keep your pre-COVID target revenue, take the excess gain from COVID phase, donate those margins (after cost) to small biz, employees and communities. The stock price may take a brief hit but will bump back up! That may sound like an incentive but it is the right thing to do 5/X

In recent years, I have seen many stellar brands and big names disappear as do most things in life. Just like for the owners and shareholders of the business, there is no forever. There is just the now. And what you do now matters more than being around 100 years from now 6/X

It can do wonders for your corporate image, hiring talent, goodwill with state and local government, future growth from consumers that avoided buying from you, and likely a stock price bump from all of them buying your stock. 7/X

Sure, there is a risk. But so is the risk from recovery being so painful that communities and people lose their ability to sustain a decent living, and will eventually not contribute their $$ to you anyway. It’s winning the long game. 8/X
