Good Morning! I need to get this off my chest so I apologize in advance for the long thread but I am tired of people expecting Black & Brown women to trust a VP selection process that seems mismanaged. Please stop downplaying our feelings & listen. It’s the least you can do. 1/10
I didn’t get to choose Joe as my nominee — he was chosen for me. My primary is June 2nd. I am okay with Joe being the nominee and thank those in early states who voted for him. I like Joe as a person and want him to beat Trump but I don’t trust him 100% & that’s real talk. 2/10
I will vote for Joe and will stand in a long line to do so but knowing his VP is ready on day one, experienced & cares about BIPOC will make voting for the ticket a lot more joyful & special. 3/10
I honestly wouldn’t be upset if the VP selected is Susan Rice or Tammy Duckworth. They are both fierce warriors, intelligent, experienced and not afraid of Trump. My only concern with Susan is that she isn’t a politician but otherwise I think she is fantastic. 4/10
Michelle Lujan Grisham and Catherine Cortez Masto the two Latina candidates might be good VP’s based on their experience. Neither are known nationally and I really don’t feel like getting to know them, to be honest, but they should be considered. 5/10
KLB & Stacey Abrams would be fine picks too but I don’t believe they will be ready day one, it would take at least a year for them to learn the federal govt and Foreign Policy. Val Demings has fed experience & I believe she should be a good choice since we know & trust her. 6/10
Gretchen Whitmer has a very bright future but leaving her state during a pandemic would be a big mistake. I have grown to like her. Amy Klobuchar, Liz Warren and a few others may have the experience but have very few receipts with BIPOC, so they are a NO for me. 7/10
That leaves Kamala Harris. If I was picking she would be the VP hands down. Choosing Kamala would be historic & mean a lot to me personally. Kamala is the best all around choice and I have tried to make the case for her. She has the experience, charisma & is for the people. 8/10
I go hard for what I want and will advocate for it until I can no longer. Maybe I get a little overzealous at times but this is important to me, for my future, my daughters future and yours. We can agree to disagree, but I will always speak my mind. 9/10
In conclusion, I want Joe to thoroughly vet all the VP candidates, pick the best woman (hopefully Kamala) & move on to the general election. Nothing is more important than getting Trump out of office & gaining back the senate. We MUST win! 10/10
