You will find the World Tree in Hungarian mythology with its familiar Pan-Euro symbolism. Égig Éro Fa (Skyhigh Tree), Életfa (Tree of Life), Világfa (World Tree) and Tetejetlen Fa (Tree without a Top)
The tree is said to have stemmed from the Táltos tradition in Hungary. The Táltosok (shaman) is the human that climbs up the tree and wanders the 7 or 9 layers of the sky.. sound familiar? ;)
One of the tales of this tree is about the Little swine herd (kiskondás), who climbs the tree to rescue the princess form the dragon.
Shaman/swineherd - fetus/child/ancestor
Princess - also ancestor(split) life force, maiden
Dragon - umbilical cord, placenta
Tree - placenta
9 or 7 layers - 9 months pregnancy, 7 year old child..
The world Tree often grows out of a reindeers or horses skull and grows atop of a world mountain/mound.
Reindeer - antlers, the shovel to dig out the burial mound
Horse - also placenta, Odins Horse Sleipnir
The mountain/mound - the burial mound/womb
And at the top of the tree is the famous Hungarian Turul, as well as many other birds (usually 7) are on the branches.
