As a homicide prosecutor, I dealt with murder cases that were made to look like suicides AND actual suicide cases that had some strange (even inexplicable) factual features to them. For context, after a medical examiner/forensic pathologist conducts an autopsy, https://twitter.com/jennylowdive/status/1263725856217632771
there are five possible “manner of death” rulings: homicide, suicide, natural death, accidental death or undetermined. The Epstein death is beyond suspicious. I’ve spoken with a number of forensic pathologist that testified in my murder cases over the years about their take
on the Epstein case. To be clear, we don’t yet have enough information to reach a definitive conclusion. However, I think the most appropriate autopsy ruling at this moment would be: Cause of Death - asphyxiation by strangulation; Manner of Death - Undetermined.
An “undetermined” ruling means there is insufficient or conflicting evidence that does not yet allow a conclusive ruling to a reasonable degree of medical certainty. Given that Epstein certainly could have provided prosecutors with information about many connected, wealthy,
influential people - including Donald Trump - and given that Bill Barr has proven himself to be Trump’s protector and enabler rather than a servant of the American people, the Epstein death is extremely suspicious. Sadly, we probably will not learn much more until January when
we again have a law abiding president and a law enforcing attorney general. Then, #accountability
