For the “it’s not censorship” crowd in movies and games.

Are we free to explore more story themes or less now?

Are we free to have more or less clothing in games now?

Can the games of the past be allowed to be published or made today. Can movies?
For a writer, movie maker, or game maker, having to stop and wonder if you’ll offend someone is censorship.

Some themes have all’s ways been taboo. But they were very few and well defined.

Today there is no way to predict if some rando will get you cancelled.
Today you can get cancelled over a character pose,

depicting history as it was,

putting up the wrong tavern sign in game,

Using the wrong word,

Following the wrong person on social media,

And anything some 3 follower account disagrees with.
It’s random and capricious.

The only way to plan for it is to paint your work with the blandest brush, or whip it into a loud affirmation of cancel culture “standards.”

Are there more consequences for artistic speech now or less?

That’s the only ruler for censorship.
