The best way to get to Edo is by foot, travelling on one of Japan’s five major highways. The most famous is the Eastern Sea Road (Tōkaidō).
It’s dotted with inns, restaurants and stables – rest and refreshment are easy to find on your journey http://ow.ly/VB5Z30qIqff

A number of Edo’s best sights are located along the Sumida River – we recommend taking an evening walk along its embankments to enjoy the cherry blossom

After all that exploring, we’re getting hungry – it’s time to taste the local cuisine

Finally, there are some local customs all visitors need to abide by – if you see a samurai, be sure to bow.
You’ll recognise a samurai because they’re the only men allowed to wear two swords, one long and one short
