This morning I will be live tweeting my favourite manhole and drain covers, from my government-mandated morning walk.

First one. Classic design and shape. #thread
I like this one because it's really simple. Bit also includes the word foundry so was probably made by dwarves.
"Post Office Telephones"
I like the classic telephone symbol on this one.
TfL branded rapid slideout. đź‘Ť
The TfL ductile sliders are decent too
The Glynwed dreadnought.

DREADNOUGHT đź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Ź
What I like about the Aquamax drains is they look deliberately designed to eat dropped mobile phones
Thames Water do some lovely little Ductiles.
Larger work is decent too
And the large W on this is pure sex.
These are lovely. No label, but the triangles make me think Highways or Thames Water.
Square Post Office Telephone classic. There's a lot of these round Walthamstow if you keep an eye out.
Someone really took pride in their work here.
Simple. Elegant.
A rare hexagon in the UK.
I like the full Thames Logo variants. Shows pride.
Strong. Bold. Fire Hydrant.

(Someone asked me if I was 'alright' while taking this one)
"insert mobile phone here"
Peter Savage does some lovely Ductiles.
The Stanton Stavelys always look really heavy.
I love the novel lift mechanics on this one.
There's still a few Cable and Wireless manholes out there if you look carefully.
This is just a stone cold classic. Hard to capture the subtle curve on camera.
These GPOs will still be around long after I'm dead.
The subtle suggestion of cables and plugs on this is utter filth. I want to take this manhole cover out and buy it drinks.
This is arguably the iconic UK manhole design. But you don't see it much these days.

Someone once told me they were tricky to lift.
AC Woodrows always look like they need four men to lift.
And we'll finish with the alliterative joy that is a Dudley & Dowell from Worley, Worcs. ♥️
Hope you enjoyed these! Should you wish to buy me a lockdown coffee (or contribute to my Friday brewery order!) you can do so here, you lovely, lovely people! https://ko-fi.com/garius
