Quick thread:

Durant deserved FMVP over Stephen Curry in the 2018 Finals and it wasn’t even close. Lets start with the basics:

KD: 29 PPG / 11 TRB / 8 AST / 1 STL / 2 BLK on 52% FG / 41% 3P / 96% FT

SC: 28 PPG / 6 TRB / 7 AST / 1 STL / 1 BLK on 40% FG / 41% 3P / 100% FT
Now let’s delve a little deeper: Who was more valuable? Well in the minutes Durant was on the court without Curry, the Warriors were +17. In the minutes Curry was on the court without Durant, the Warriors were -22. KD’s accumulated +/- was +86. Steph’s was +47.

Advantage Durant
What people will consistently argue is “Curry was better in 3 of 4 games”. Lets look at game 2 first:

KD: 26/7/9 on 83% TS / 79% eFG / +12.4 BPM

SC: 33/8/7 on 61% TS / 60% eFG / +6.8 BPM

So was Curry really better in game 2 cause he shot 12 more times to score 7 more points?
Now let’s look at game 4 but before we do that, let’s look at some context.
Curry had never come close to winning a FMVP and he’s on record saying he wants to. The pressure of winning FMVP was so much he was CRYING after WINNING game 3 cause he knew KD probably swayed the vote
Now with that context. Let’s look at game 4 or what I like to call the “here nigga, damn game”. Everyone including KD was trying their hardest to help Curry pad his stats to get that award. Luckily, the voters didn’t fall for that and KD still ended up with a triple double 🤭

Let me address this fake ass graphic that has ended up in my mentions at least 100 times ->
Does this look like “2 double teams” to you?
Shit like this happened so much during Durant’s tenure on GS but nobody makes video montages of it. But yeah he only saw “2 double teams” 🤣
But yeah I think I proved my point. Durant was the more impactful player in the 2018 finals and should’ve honestly won it unanimously. End of thread
