The pendulum has swung too far toward devaluing size, IMO. The reigning NBA champions, arguably the two best teams this year & 2 of the other 5 best last year experienced significant success b/c they had plus size on the floor. 2-big lineups can & have worked in the postseason.
The key is having one big who can either stretch the floor or boasts some perimeter skills. But I think the discourse has, at times, been reduced to size simply being bad. It’s not. It can often be a huge advantage. Nuance is important!
Having a drop big is supposedly a death knell for the playoffs but 34-year-old Marc Gasol was TOR’s starting center last season. Now, he’s incredibly intelligent & a very good team defender, but, again, we can’t simply write off drop bigs b/c of our perception of playoff faults.
