You know it's not fun to be part of the Star Wars fandom anymore. I'm sick of feeling like trash for liking the "fanfiction trilogy" or getting 24318932407 videos talking about why rey is a mary sue or "forced diversity".
I'm tired of people who feel the need to constantly brigade positive posts with negativity. I'm sick of TLJ haters who can't shut up about the movie after years, and I'm sick of TLJ fans who feel the need to trash every aspect of TROS and trash people who liked TROS.
I hate people who harass and bully actors just for playing a role in a movie and I hate all the people who are hypocrites and act like Kathy ruined Star Wars and then praise Rogue One, TCW or the Mandalorian.
I'm tired of people who need to make 3 hour videos about why a movie is "objectively bad" and I hate when these videos keep popping up in my recommended.
I'm not saying the content is without flaws, I'd be willing to talk about the flaws of ANY of the content. I'm just saying that people need to calm down. It's ok if you're upset that Ben Solo died, I get it. What's not ok is sending death threats to JJ/Terrio because of that.
I get it if you're upset about various plot points, bad acting, bad writing, bad directing, etc. Star Wars has PLENTY of that. But I don't get the tribalism and the need to trash something in order to put something else up.
It's fine if you hate the sequels, but there's no need to make 50 memes a day saying "sequels bad". It's fine if you like Reylo/the Dyad. There's just no need to constantly talk about how the sequel trio is "fake" and try and erase the two men of color from the trio.
It's fine if you think Finn was wasted potential, but don't need to go under John Boyega's twitter and tell him that he played "the most wasted character in recent history", as I once saw a tweet say. It's fine if you dislike Rose, but don't harass KMT/Rian for a MOVIE CHARACTER.
Let people enjoy things. Seriously. Why would you want to waste time talking about why a movie is "objectively bad"? Focus on the things you like, and you'll make it better for the rest of us.
There's no need to go retweet a tweet about someone loving the Luke/X-wing scene or the 1472890 ships scene and talk about why it's horrible. You have that opinion? Fine. Keep it to yourself or go talk about it somewhere else instead of trying to ruin someone else's joy.
Again, nobody is saying that you can't have an opinion. You hated TROS? That's great. You love the prequels? That's also great. But just because someone loved TROS or hates the prequels, you don't need to insult them.
The Star Wars fandom is the one fandom where you can feel bad because you enjoyed a Star Wars movie.
As someone said on Youtube, "The most positive part of the star wars community are little kids who play with lightsabers in their backyard. When THAT'S the most positive part of your community, you're in a bad place."
So I just want to say: If you ship reylo, that's fine. If you hate reylo, that's fine. If you like the prequels, that's awesome. If you hate the prequels, that's also awesome. If you hate the sequels, that's ok. If you love the sequels, that's also ok.
Regardless of whatever opinion you have, there's no need to try and ruin someone else's joy or attack someone else for a different opinion. If you hated TROS and loved TLJ, that's fine. Just...stop tweeting about how much you hate TROS and tweet more about how you love TLJ.
If you like Rian's style of filmmaking and hate JJ's style of filmmaking, that's absolutely fine. Just stop tweeting about how much you hate JJ and tweet more about how much you love Rian. And vice versa.
I know I've been toxic about my opinion sometimes, so I won't put myself on a pedestal here. But the reason why the Star Wars fandom is so toxic is because people take their hatred of so far and can't seem to let it go, that they let it affect every fiber of their being.
I know only like...5 people are going to read this thread but what I'm trying to say is...just calm down. It's not worth it to get mad over this. They're fake space wizard movies.
