As I worked on my paper, I became more & more disturbed by the “Word of Faith.” It’s much darker than I realized. As I mentioned in a previous tweet, what disturbs me the most, is the blasphemous misuse of “I AM.”
Page 2.
In the OT book of Exodus, “I AM” was the personal name attributed to God (Ex. 3:13-14). The grounds where God declared this name for himself was so holy, it required the removal of Moses’ sandals while in His presence.
Page 3.
Jesus, who is known as “The Great I AM” also used this name to proclaim His authority and Divine nature (John 8:58). It is one of the greatest names for God and a term/phrase used throughout Scripture, as it relates to His attributes.
Page 4.
“Word of Faith” preachers take that holy name and invert it into a narcissistic self-centered concept for Christians to get what they want. God is turned into a divine vending machine that dispenses candy to those who speak positively.

And declare good things about themselves. The message is that when you proclaim “I am” statements over your life, these things will follow you & God will provide them. This is blasphemy. Human beings become divine.
Page 6.
God is stripped of His sovereignty and any power He has is continent on what WE do or say. Psalm 12:3-6 warns those who make great boasts about their tongues & declares that it is the Words of God that are divine, pure & true.

I believe this is the remedy:
If there is one attribute of God that can’t be overstated it is His holiness. The holiness of God means He is transcendent over all creation. There are two places in Scripture (Isaiah 6:3 & Rev. 4:8...,

where God’s holiness is declared three times by the angels in heaven who cry out, “Holy, holy, holy...”
These are not men addressing God, but sinless angels, who regardless of their splendor, can no more stand in the presence of God...

...than any other created being w/out bowing their heads and crying, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty.” If this one attribute of God were properly understood by those who endorse the “Word of Faith” movement...,

the idea of equating ourselves and our words with god-like power to bring things into existence would be utterly irreverent and abandoned in light of Who God is & what His holiness truly means.
