Here's something that makes me mad. How did the word efficiency get so poorly defined?
I'd like 'efficiency' back. It's a good word. It doesn't actually mean producing the most stuff for the least cost, at least it shouldn't. You aren't more efficient if you push pain and destruction off on employees or pre-schoolers or the ocean or the atmosphere.
In fact I'm all for efficiency. How do we produce the most health and happiness per hectare of soil? How we create the most potential for joy out of mile of roadway?
The most amazing people I know are efficient. They take the time and life energy they have been given and create peace and healing or insight or full bellies or belly laughs with it. It's freakin alchemy and we need more of it.
I'm sick of giving over things that are good and practical and life-giving to some sort of twisted phony metric that leaves out half of what matters and does so on purpose.
Let's make the most efficient society ever, well-being in abundance with the least waste and the most care.
